01How Meta ads work
Meta shows your ads in Instagram and Facebook feeds, Reels and Stories, to people it predicts will be interested. Nobody asked to see your ad, so the creative has to earn attention in the first two seconds.
That makes Meta strong for products people buy with their eyes: fashion, jewellery, beauty, home and food. It is also where testing many creative variations pays off most.
02How Google ads work
Google Search ads appear when someone types a search, such as “silver jewellery online” or “website designer near me”. The person already has the need; your ad just needs to be the best answer.
Google also runs Shopping and Performance Max campaigns, which show your products with images and prices across Search, YouTube and other Google placements. These work well for online stores with a product feed.
03Which one should you start with?
- People search for what you sell (services, repairs, appointments): start with Google Search.
- Your product is visual or new, and people don’t know to search for it: start with Meta.
- You run an online store with many products: Meta for discovery, plus Google Shopping or Performance Max.
- Your budget is small: pick one channel and do it properly before adding the second.
04Why they work best together
Someone sees your Reel on Instagram, doesn’t buy, then searches your brand name on Google a week later. Meta created the interest; Google closed the sale. Running both, with retargeting to bring warm visitors back, covers the whole journey instead of half of it.
Our Growth plan runs Meta, Instagram and Google Search together from $899 a month. Compare plans on the ads pricing page.
