01The seven signs
- It loads slowly, especially on mobile data. Many visitors leave before a slow page finishes loading.
- It looks wrong on phones: tiny text, buttons that are hard to tap, or pages you have to pinch and scroll sideways.
- It gets visits but few enquiries, because the next step isn’t obvious or takes too much effort.
- It looks older than your business, so it undersells the quality of what you do.
- It doesn’t show up on Google for the things you sell, or for your area.
- It is hard to update, so prices, photos and offers stay out of date.
- It sends ad traffic to a homepage, instead of a page built for that offer.
02How to check your own site in ten minutes
- Open it on your phone on mobile data and count how long it takes to load.
- Try to contact yourself through it: how many taps does it take?
- Search Google for your service and your area, and see where you appear.
- Run it through Google’s free PageSpeed Insights for a speed score.
03Redesign without losing your rankings
The biggest risk in a redesign is losing search traffic. Avoid it by keeping the content that already ranks, setting up redirects from every old page address to its new one, and resubmitting the sitemap to Google after launch. We do all of this as part of every redesign.
ByteShark website redesigns start at $899 and most go live in 2–3 weeks. See the website pricing page.
